27 October - The University of Aberdeen Hong Kong Associaton, is organising a Scottish Evening at the Police Officer Club.
22 November -There will be an informal reception for Alumni living in Paris.

James Naughtie - An Age for Dickens? 11 October, MacRobert Lecture Theatre, 6pm
Broadcaster and journalist James Naughtie returns to Aberdeen to give the Centre for the Novel Annual Lecture, as part of the Dickens in 2012 series to mark the bicentenary of the author's birth.
Naughtie, who grew up in the North-East and is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen, has become one of the nation's most respected interviewers and political commentators, especially as the host of the BBC Radio 4 Today programme. In this lecture, he considers the relevance of Dickens' fiction and journalism to the modern political scene.

Alumni Paralympians going for gold
Three of the University's alumni are going for gold at the Paralympics in London and we are delighted that Neil Fachie and his team-mate have smashed a world record to take gold in track cycling, while also gaining a silver. Fellow alumni Karen Darke and Ben Jesson are also competing in road cycling and air rifle competitions respectively.

Latest Moonlight Prowl raises over £65,000 for breast cancer research
Breast cancer researchers at the University of Aberdeen are to benefit from almost £70,000 raised by the annual Moonlight Prowl in Fraserburgh. The income from this year's event takes the total raised since 2008 to over half a million pounds.

The University of Aberdeen's Annual Ladies' Luncheon will take place on Thursday 13 September, at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels, 12noon for 12.30pm. We are delighted to have as our guest speaker, Mark Paterson, Curator of the Cruickshank Botanic Garden. Tickets are £28.50 and include a two course lunch and drinks reception. After a very succesful year in 2011/12, when 64 students and alumni were matched, we are looking for even more alumni volunteers based in the UK to take part in the Career Mentoring programme in 2012/13. My name is Anne-Claire and I graduated in July, so these are my first steps into the alumni world. As such, hello everyone. I haven't completely left the student sphere behind me though, as I am also the Student President for 2012/13.
