MESSAGE FROM THE STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT, ANGELA FRASER

I always like to start my message with some good news, this month I am starting with particularly good news.  After months of campaigning, we have received confirmation that the University will no longer be closing the Union Bar in March.  I would like to thank everyone who sent emails, made phone calls and wrote letters to the Gaudie on this matter.  They were all extremely helpful in the campaign to save the Union!

If you live in and around Aberdeen then look out for the new edition of Eureka, an Aberdonian tradition dating back to the early fifties and one of the few methods students have to communicate their fundraising activities to the local community.  Eureka will be hitting offices and shops near you from 1 March 2008.  The Charities Fashion Show takes place later this month; if you would like to buy tickets for the fashion show or a copy of Eureka please get in touch, at sapresident@abdn.ac.uk.

13th Annual Aberdeen Universities
Boat Race - 9 March 2008

The 9th of March will see the thirteenth annual boat race between the Aberdeen University Boat Club (AUBC) and The Robert Gordon University Boat Club (RGUBC). The race which is kindly sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management will take place on the River Dee from the Bridge of Dee to the Boat House over a course of approximately three kilometres. AUBC has won the race eleven out of twelve times making Aberdeen the traditional favourite to collect the trophy!

AUBC is attempting to reconnect with former members of the club and would be pleased to hear from previous rowers.  The purpose of this is to set up an Alumni Members Club, where previous AUBC members can keep in touch with each other socially and hear the latest news from the club.

Any former members wishing to get in touch can email the Club Secretary, at secretary@aubc.org.uk.

LAST CHANCE TO HELP US IMPROVE OUR SERVICE TO YOU

Thank you to everyone who has completed our online survey so far.  Although the link will remain on the alumni homepage a little longer, this will be the last reminder in the E-Bulletin so we urge you to complete the survey soon.

The Alumni Relations team is looking at ways to improve its service to ensure it meets the needs of its growing audience.  Tell us what it means to have been a student of Aberdeen and help us build an improved and tailored alumni programme.

The confidential online survey is at www.abdn.ac.uk/alumni.  It should not take long for you to participate - the target is less than seven minutes.

As a thank you, there is an opportunity to enter a prize draw to win £150 when you reach the end.
